This historical novel, Encounter (Mannam), by Hahn Moo-Sook, one of Asia's most honored writers, is a story of the resilience in the Korean spirit. It is told through the experiences of Tasan, a high-ranking official and foremost Neo-Confucian scholar at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Because of Tasan's fascination with Western learning, then synonymous with Catholicism, he is exiled to a remote province for 18 years. In banishment he meets! people from various social and religious backgrounds--Buddhist monks, peasants, shamans--whom he would not otherwise have met. The events of Tasan's life are effectively used to depict the confluence of Buddhist, Neo-Confucian, Taoist, and shamanistic beliefs in traditional Korea.
A subplot involves three young sisters, the daughters of a prominent Catholic aristocrat, and affords the reader vivid glimpses into Yi-dynasty women's lives, particularly those of palace ladies, scholars' wives, tavern keepers, shamans, and slaves. In contrast to the long-held Confucian stereotype of female subservience, this story illustrates the richness of women's contribution to Korean culture and tradition.
Encounter's detailed narrative provides a broad and informed view of nineteenth-century Korea, making it a highly useful book for courses on Korean literature and society. It will also be an engaging read for lovers of historical fiction. This phrasebook includes: a pronuncia! tion section; a grammar section; cultural notes; and index and! thumb t abs for easy use.Hephaestus Books represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. From the author: The esterification of the hydroxyl group of starch with DuPont Surlyn was considered as pretreatment method of starch before blending with polyolefins. In treating starch with Surlyn, two different reaction conditions were taken to optimize reaction conditions. First, the esterification reaction was carried out in 110 [degrees] C xylene with oleic acid as a catalyst. Second, the reaction was carried out in a 90 [degrees] C mixture of deionized water and xylene with ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as an initiator. Starch granules would be swollen above the gelatinization temperature in water. In both cases, starch was modified by Surlyn to have good compatibility with low-density polyethylene (LDPE). The mechanical and rheological properties were examined for blends of the treated starch and LDPE. This system may be one of the biodegradable polymer blends that sufficiently retain properties as a pa! ckaging film.

Last Supper Korean Movie Dvd with English Sub (Korean Version) with Special Features NTSC All Region

All item have English and Chinese subtitles. All item play region 1 (US, Canada). All item are complete series.Spring Days: Go Hyun-Jung (Sandglass), one of the original Korean TV drama megastars, returns after a ten-year hiatus for the eagerly anticipated mini-series Spring Days. With the combined star power of Go Hyun-Jung, plus Ji Jin-Hee (Dae Jang Geum, Love Letter) and Jo In-Sung (Something Happened in Bali), Spring Days is definitely not your ordinary K-drama series!

Loosely adapted from the popular Japanese drama, Heaven's Coins, Spring Days tells the gripping story of Suh Jung-Eun (Go Hyun-Jung), an elusive beauty who has suffered a trauma so great that she loses the will to speak. Go Eun-Ho (Ji Jin-Hee) is the doctor who helps Jung-Eun find a way to overcome her past. But just when her gratitude starts to blossom into love, fate cruelly intervenes, leaving Eun-Ho in a coma. At the hospital Jung-Eun meets Eun-Ho's stepbrother Eun-Sup (Jo In-Sung), who is also a doctor. Despite his best intentions, Eun-Sup finds himself powerles! s to resist Jung-Eun. Latent rivalries and misunderstandings come to a boil as the two brothers vie for Jung-Eun's affection.

Featuring an all-star cast and a compelling story, Spring Days is a highly acclaimed 20-episode K-Drama for all seasons.

Someday: Hana Yamaguchi (Bae Doo-Na, The Host) is a successful young cartoonist. Although she writes romantic comics, she is analytical and pessimistic about love. Nicknamed the "Love Analyzer," Hana sees love as a simple biological response. But when her cartoon is discontinued, she sets off on a journey to discover what love really is. A Korean TV drama with a touch of animation, Someday tells the story of three people's journey into the crazy world of love.

The first Korean drama to integrate animation and live action, Someday is like no drama that has come before. Through outstanding cinematography and visual design, this groundbreaking drama beautifully lenses Korea's contemporary ! urban landscape and peeks into the moody, imaginative world of! a comic book artist. Written by movie screenwriter Kim Hee Jae (Hanbando), a "movie-like drama" with top-end production values, Someday features film star Bae Du Na (The Host), drama favorite Kim Min Joon (Lovers in Prague, Damo), and rising stars Lee Jin Wook and Oh Yoon Ah from Alone in Love. In contrast with its fanciful images, the drama stays candid and grounded in its exploration of modern relationships and romance, presenting a story that is both painfully realistic and longingly lighthearted.

Although Korean-Japanese cartoonist Yamaguchi Hana (Bae Du Na) has found great success with her romantic comic books, she herself doesn't believe in love. Raised by her grandmother, she is content to live in her own world of writing and drawing, but one day her comic gets discontinued. Unceremoniously thrown back into the real world, Hana travels to Seoul where she meets Kim Seok Man (Lee Jin Wook), a kind-hearted private investigator with a tragic past, and Go Jin Pyo (Kim! Min Joon), a doctor and ardent comic fan who observes life with a detached eye. As Hana retraces the tragic love story of her elderly neighbors with Seok Man and Jin Pyo's help, she realizes that she herself is experiencing love for the first time.

This edition comes with making of, interviews, trailers, music video, and other special features.Three fortune losers with their own sorrowful stories now come together in their black sheep gathering in "Last supper"! Here comes a story about three people with sliding fortune: a gangster running away from mafias after killing their boss; an ex-doctor who has just got out of prison because of his malpractice; and a woman with serious liver aliment escaping from debt collectors because of her heavy spending on shopping! Thrill-seeking billionaire Thomas Crown (Brosnan) loves nothing more than courting disasterand winning! So when his world becomes too stiflingly safe, he pulls off his boldest stunt ever: stealing a priceless paintingin broad daylightfrom one of Manhattan's most heavily guarded museums. But his post-heist excitement soon pales beside an even greater challenge: Catherine Banning (Russo). A beautiful insurance investigator hired to retrieve the artwork, Catherine's every bit as intelligent, cunning and hungry for adventure as he is. And just when Thomas realizes he's finally met his match, she skillfully leads him into a daring game of cat and mouse that's more intoxicating and dangerous than anything either of them has ever experienced before! For the Hollywood remake rule, which dictates that an update of an older film be inferior to the o! riginal in almost every aspect, The Thomas Crown Affair stands as a glorious exception. The original 1968 film, starring a dapper Steve McQueen and a radiant Faye Dunaway, was a diverting pop confection of mod clothes and nifty break-ins, but not much more. John McTiernan's new version, though, cranks up the entertainment factor to mach speed, turning what was a languid flick into a high-adrenaline caper romance. Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) is now a man of industry who likes to indulge in a little high-priced art theft on the side; Catherine Banning (Rene Russo) is the insurance investigator determined to get on his tail in more ways than one. If you're thinking cat-and-mouse game, think again--it's more like cat vs. smarter cat, as both the thief and the investigator try to outwit each other and nothing is off-limits, especially after they start a highly charged love affair that's a heated mix of business and pleasure.

What makes this Thomas Crown more enjoyable than its predecesor is McTiernan's attention ! to detai l in both the set action pieces (no surprise from the man who helmed Die Hard with precision accuracy) and the developing romance, the witty and intelligent script by Leslie Dixon (she wrote the love scenes) and Kurt Wimmer (he wrote the action scenes), and, most of all, its two stunning leads (both over 40 to boot), combustible both in and out of bed. Brosnan, usually held prisoner in the James Bond straitjacket, lets loose with both a relaxed sensuality and a comic spirit he's rarely expressed before. The film, however, pretty much belongs to Russo, who doesn't just steal the spotlight, but bends it to her will. Beautiful, stylish, smart, self-possessed, incredibly sexy, she's practically a walking icon; it's no wonder Crown falls for her hook, line, and sinker. With Denis Leary as a police detective smitten with Russo, and Faye Dunaway in a throwaway but wholly enjoyable cameo as Brosnan's therapist. --Mark EnglehartThrill-seeking billionaire Thomas Crown (B! rosnan) loves nothing more than courting disasterand winning! For Costner's Roy, golf is a head-and heart-game. On both counts, that's where shrink Molly Griswold (Rene Russo) comes in. She's big city, Roy's small time, and he believes only the grandest of gestures can lure her away from a slick touring pro (Don Johnson) and earn her love. So Roy and his dutiful caddy (Cheech Marin) set out to do the impossible: win the U.S. Open. With laughs, clever battle-of-the-sexes banter and a handy way with a 7-iron, Tin Cup winningly defines the moment and contemporary romantic comedy

One of the better romantic comedies of the 1990s, this quirky love story stars Kevin Costner as washed-up golf pro! Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy, who has the singular misfortune of fall! ing in l ove with the girlfriend (Rene Russo) of his arch rival (Don Johnson). Although he is inspired to re-ignite his golf career, challenge his opponent in the U.S. Open, and win the affection of the woman of his dreams, McAvoy has just one flaw: he's a show off when he should just focus on playing the game. Reunited with his Bull Durham writer-director Ron Shelton, Costner fits into his role like a favorite pair of shoes, and costar Cheech Marin scores a memorable scene-stealing comeback as McAvoy's best buddy, Romeo Posar. Mixing his love of sports with his flair for fresh, comedic dialogue, Shelton takes this enjoyable movie down unexpected detours (although some may find it a bit too long), and his characters are delightfully unpredictable. --Jeff Shannon

The Girl in the Park

Wo young women work as maids in a maui resort community. With othing else to do with their time the girls decide to surf. Hey become very good and enter an all-male contest. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 03/28/2006 Starring: Kate Bosworth Matthew Davis Run time: 105 minutes Rating: Pg13 Director: John StockwellNot to be confused with the 2002 feature film of the same title, Blue Crush is billed as the original all-girl surfer's movie, and it's guaranteed to please devotees of the sport. It's a mixed blessing, however, because it assumes familiarity with the sport and its superstars, dispensing with any educational or historical detail that would appeal to neophytes. After all, how can this film be dedicated to Rell Sunn (the pioneer of female competitive surfing, who died in of breast cancer in 1998 at age 47) and fail to explore her illus! trious career? This haphazard approach extends to profiles of the young women who regard Sunn as their hero; we learn little of their backgrounds and how they rose to prominence on the waves. Blue Crush works best as a globetrotting, music-video tour of surfdom's prime locations (Samoa, Hawaii, the Gold Coast, South Africa) hosted by the sport's most prominent competitors, including several (Rochelle Ballard, Megan Abubo, Sanoe Lake, Keala Kennelly, Kate Skarratt) who appeared in Universal's popular feature. It's a lot of fun, especially if you "hang ten" on a regular basis. --Jeff ShannonAcademy Award® Winner Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston and International sensation Jang Dong Gun star in this boldly original film that blends intense martial arts action with a dazzling visual style. After a lifetime of training in swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat, the world’s most dangerous fighter (Jang) flees his homeland to start a new life in the Ameri! can West. But soon the hunter becomes the hunted, and now the ! legendar y warrior must wage a fierce, all-out battle against a renegade gang of outlaws and a pack of murderous assassins from his own past."This is the story of a sad flute, a laughing baby, and a weeping sword," a voice intones at the beginning of The Warrior's Way. It's also a story in which bullets fly, blood flows, and the body count mounts to the point where you'll need a calculator to keep track, often to the accompaniment of a Verdi opera. Writer-director Sngmoo Lee's film centers on a lone warrior named Yang (Jang Dong-gun), "the greatest swordsman in the history of mankind," who has managed to wipe out all of his enemies save one, that being an adorable infant whom he refuses to murder, much to the displeasure of his boss, the leader of a band known as the Sad Flutes. For reasons never quite explained, our exiled hero soon finds himself in a thoroughly dilapidated town in the American west, where a half-finished ferris wheel looms and the inhabitants consist mainly ! of a bunch of worn-out circus performers (clowns, bearded lady, midget ringmaster, the whole shebang), the town drunk (Geoffrey Rush, a very long way from his Oscar-winning performance in Shine), and a beautiful young woman (Kate Bosworth, sporting a ridiculous accent) whose family was slaughtered by a local bad guy known as the Colonel (Danny Huston, suitably sadistic). Yang improbably takes over the town's laundry service, plants a garden, and cares for the baby, but we know it won't be long before his real talents will be needed--and sure enough, when the Colonel and his band of filthy wretches ride back into town, followed not long thereafter by a platoon of acrobatic ninjas sent to dispatch our hero, Yang and the locals have their hands full. All of this is fairly ridiculous, but the movie has a surreal, painterly look (imagine a cross between Dali, Fellini, and a graphic novel) that's never less than engaging. Jang is no Olivier, to say the least, but he's hand! some and charismatic, and although the ending holds few surpri! ses (esp ecially once he instructs the Bosworth character in "the warrior's way"), genre fans are likely to be enchanted. --Sam GrahamGIRL IN THE PARK - DVD Movie

The restless filming of a viscontian movie adapted from Dostoyevsky's "The Possessed" in an opulent and smothering set. A po! litical conspiracy conspiring to do away with the prelate from Eastern Europe, which Milan is inadvertently caught up in. An oppressing and eerie Paris transformed into an expressionist universe which these hunted characters are trying to escape from.

These are essential elements of La Femme Publique (The Public Woman), Andrzej Zulawksi's 6th film, where the obsessive themes of his dazzling career Trzecia Czesc Nocy (The Third Part of the Night,1971), L'Important C'est D'aimer (The Important Thing is to Love,1975), and Possession (1981) become entangled.

ANDRZEJ ZULAWSKI's La Femme Publique is a cinematic milestone rich with extreme imagery and raw emotions. Twenty five years after its controversial inception at the Cannes Film Festival, this story of a young, struggling actress retains the power to shock even the most seasoned of movie goers with its violently stylish, apocalyptic tone. A woman s destiny, divided between angel and! demon...An hour and 54 minutes of painful happiness, La Femme! Publiqu e scratches the soul, slaps the eyes, and seduces like the maelstrom that each one of us hides beyond the conscious. To summarize La Femme Publique is impossible, dangerous and impoverishing. Zulawski is not a man of words; he plays and juggles with the image, the color, the rhythm, the sound, the music, and this unspeakable shamelessness that he steals from his actors so effectively. Between humor and paroxysm, La Femme Publique is a fascinating metaphysical experience with a degree of intensity that needs to be seen to be believed. Simply put, it represents cinema at its most insane & brilliant.

    The Burning Plain

    • BURNING PLAIN, THE (DVD MOVIE)
Frequently given short shrift as a blue movie (which it is) and as mindless (which it isn't), director Adrian Lyne's follow-up to Flashdance (insert own joke here) is a thoughtful, smutty film about a bad sexual relationship. It follows the two-month affair between Elizabeth, an art-gallery dealer, and John, a Wall Street exec. The relationship spirals downward into raunchier sex (filmed, by the way, quite nicely) but principally is about two adults doing adult things but not acting anything like real adults. Attempts at actual human connection, about the longing to be "good," are present here and make this an above-average erotic film. Rourke is just honing his scumbag, bad-boy persona; but it doesn't overwhelm. Lots and lots of Kim Basinger. --Keith Simanton Academy Award® winners Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger star in this romantic mystery ab! out hope, redemption and second chances. Sylvia (Theron) is a woman on the edge whose cool, professional demeanor masks a deeply troubled, sexually charged storm within. When a stranger from Mexico confronts her with her mysterious past, she is launched into an emotional journey back to the defining moment of her life. Gina (Basinger) is a housewife trapped in a loveless marriage who finds solace and passion in an illicit affair. Though separated by time and great distances, these women find their lives linked by the forces of love and fate.A painful secret separates a mother and daughter in The Burning Plain, the feature directorial debut by the screenwriter of Babel, 21 Grams, and Amores Perros. The story moves fluidly in time: In the present, Sylvia (Charlize Theron) seems to be leading a confident life as the manager of an expensive restaurant, but it’s a mask covering promiscuity, self-mutilation, and suicidal impulses. Many years earlier,! a young girl named Mariana (Jennifer Lawrence, The Bill En! gvall Sh ow) tries to piece together what led her mother (Kim Basinger) into an extramarital affair...even as Mariana herself falls into a dangerous relationship with the son of her mother’s lover. These threads and more are interwoven into an increasingly potent knot. The Burning Plain has some obvious dialogue and a few off-key notes, but despite that is a striking first effort by Guillermo Arriaga. Theron has always been best in roles that draw on anger and pain, like her astonishing performance in Monster; she goes bland when called on to portray nobility and happiness, but give her inner demons and her remarkable beauty roils with hidden emotions. The rest of the supporting cast--including John Corbett and Robin Tunney in small roles--turn in strong work. Like a boa constrictor, the movie slowly coils around you, then squeezes. --Bret Fetzer

Crowd-pleasing romantic comedy 200 Pounds Beauty has certainly been one of the surprise box office hits of the year. Pulling in over five million admissions, it has become one of the top ten grossing films of all time and the highest grossing romantic comedy ever. Directed by Kim Yong Hwa, the lighthearted and bitingly funny film revolves around a topic all too familiar in South Korea: plastic surgery. 200 Pounds Beauty made an overnight star out of lead Kim Ah Jung (When Romance Meets Destiny). The actress charmed both male and female moviergoers alike with her sassy, yet vulnerable performance as a young woman who becomes a singer after undergoing full body plastic surgery. Ju Jin Mo (Musa) stars as her producer and the handsome object of her affections. Bolstered by the popularity of the f! ilm, the soundtrack has also become a huge hit, particularly Kim Ah Jung's catchy rendition of Maria (Track 3). The most attention may have fallen on Maria, but the soundtrack contains plenty of other great songs and popular artists. Kim Ah Jung herself also sings Beautiful Girl, which comes as a solo version (Track 1) and a second version (Track 9) with And and Alex Chu of Clazziquai. Alex offers the solo track Dance with My Daddy (Track 5) as well. In keeping with the movie's theme, the soundtrack features popular rock band Loveholic's "Superstar" (Track 4) and female singer Youme's "Star" (Track 2). Other artists on the soundtrack include Kim Hyung Joong, Venny, and U.Hanna is a lip sync vocalist for Amy, the famous Korean pop singer. Even though she is always ignored because of her appearance, she has been a bright and lighthearted girl until Amy humiliates her in front of Sang-jun, her secret love. At last she makes a decision of a lifetime to have plastic surgery all over her body. Her unrequited love gets any return?

Hum is "cool". A little self" absorbed, little egotistical, Hum is very confident in social situations. His sharp intellect, and a quick wit, is most often used to achieve his primary goal - bugging girls in general, and Tum in particular! But deep inside, Hum is just a boy. Sometimes a bit too eager to impress, sometimes suprisingly sensitive, Hum is not a uni" dimensional character with single minded characterizations. His actions and emotions reflect that t! here is a "Nike Guy" within. Hum who understands the difference between pulling someone's leg, and hurting someone's feeling. Tum is a girl, and she's proud of it. She stands up for herself and who she is. Tum has her own brand of attitude. She may sometimes be a little aloof, but she genuinely cares for those around her. She's a "sweet" girl, thoughtful, generous, but sometimes a little reserved. Seduction is a powerful force, and in the form of The Woman in Red, it's certain to lead to unbridled passion and unlimited laughs! Featuring a first-rate cast that includes Gene Wilder, Charles Grodin, Joseph Bologna, Judith Ivey, Kelly Le Brock and Emmy-winner Gilda Radner, this comedy bombshell scores a perfect 10! Businessman Teddy Pierce (Wilder) has always played by the rules... until he meets the woman in red. With killer legs and a knock out style, sexy Charlotte (Le Brock) is the ultimate fantasy woman. Now Teddy's headed straight for trouble. Deciding just this once 'to give in to temptation, he's looking forward to the most romantic experience of his life. But Teddy's amorous affections soon lead to hilarious consequences when his friends, his secretary and Charlotte's husband get involved!! For a few years in the mid-1970s, thanks mostly to his collaboration with Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder was the hottest name in comedy. His films with Richard Pryor made him such a star that he was given the chance to write and direct--a big mistake. The nadir was this slow-moving, self-conscious Americanization of the French bedroom comedy Pardon Mon Affaire. Wilder plays an American executive who glimpses a gorgeous woman and turns his life and his marriage upside down in his misguided pursuit of an unattainable ideal. Heavy-handed sex farce doesn't get much help from Wilder, who does himself no favors as a director; LeBrock is a worthy object of obsession, but she deserves a better movie. --Marshall FineFor a few years in the mid-1970s, thanks mostly to his collaboration with Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder was the hottest name in comedy. • After her family is murdered, a young woman becomes a master of the sword and seeks revenge on the evil queen responsible for the mayhem that has befallen her.Running Time: 89 min. Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: SCI-FI/FANTASY Rating: PG-13 Age: 012569691124 UPC: 012569691124 Manufacturer No: 66911
Deep inside the concrete jungle of an infamous communist block prison, one innocent woman struggles to stay alive amid sadistic, heroin-smuggling guards and a psychotic, stiletto-heeled warden. Voluptuous Brigitte Nielsen [Beverly Hills Cop II] stars as the masterful mistress of a women's prison where the most contemptible crimes are committed after they put you away for life.

A nefarious plot to "recruit" beautiful young women into a prostitution and drug-smuggling ring has separated one sister from another. Now, it's red-hot action as the determined young woman begins to unravel a depr! aved conspiracy, as far reaching as it is corrupt. An innocent woman struggles to survive in a communist prison run by a psychotic warden in stiletto-heels.From back cover - Two lusty young women from Milan cavort amid young Italian men on various hot and steamy Meditteranean beaches.

Hollywood film actress, Danish supermodel, ex-wife of Stallone, ex-lover of Schwarzenegger, abuse survivorâ€"Brigitte Nielsen offers a deeply personal account of her remarkable life

For almost 30 years Brigitte Nielsen has been part of the jet-setâ€"romantically involved with international film stars, beautiful, and richâ€"but life has not always been full of Hollywood glitz. In this compelling and honest biography, Brigitte describes how she survived incredible lows, includin! g a suicide attempt and alcoholism. From a normal upbringing i! n an ord inary middle class family in the Copenhagen suburbs, she grew into a tall and skinny teenager, her looks soon transforming her life at the age of 16 into that of a glamorous international supermodel. She had four marriages and four amazing children. But her life eventually became unbearable because of a violent husband, and years of misuse of alcohol. In recent years Brigitte has returned to the spotlight appearing in dozens of films, recorded two music albums, and starred in several reality television shows. This is an honest account of the dark side of the life in the public eye, the pressures of being a mother, how she lost herself, and how she then found the courage to face life and regain what she had lost.

After her family is murdered, a young woman becomes a master of the sword and seeks revenge on the evil queen responsible for the mayhem that has befallen her.Brigitte Nielsen, as Conan creator Robert E. Howard's female warrior Red ! Sonja, gets an assist from Arnold Schwarzenegger in this enjoyably campy, Italian-lensed sword & sorcery adventure. Nielsen's thespian skills may be a bit stiff, but she certainly fills out the physical demands of the role, which asks her to look impressive with a sword as she avenges the death of her priestess sister and the theft of a sacred orb by an evil queen (Sandahl Bergman, also from the '82 theatrical Conan and a match for Nielsen's acting ability). Schwarzenegger (not playing Howard's barbarian king) lends some star power in a supporting role as a warrior assisting Sonja, and if the film stumbles in the acting, scripting, and special-effects departments, Richard Fleischer's direction and cinematography Giuseppe Rotunno are appropriately action-heavy and comic-book colorful (Fleischer also directed Conan the Destroyer and The Vikings); Ennio Morricone's bombastic score is another plus. --Paul Gaita

Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer from Calcutta, learns this soon enough when her path crosses with Sid's on her first day in Bombay, Ambitious, well-read, and driven, Aisha has come to Bombay to realize her dreams as a writer. As the daughter of a legendary grid iron star, a young woman's greatest desire is to coach a team of her own. But when the chauvinistic powers-that-be assign her to an inner-city ghetto school, the spirited female has her work cut out for her.Goldie Hawn plays a physical education teacher who gets a chance to coach an inner-city high school football team. If that sounds contrived, it is, but in the hands of director Michael Ritchie (Smile), the jokes all fire, and there's plenty of comedy t! eased out in details. (The cheerleading squad has some funny moments just belting out their morale-boosting chants.) The supporting cast has a couple of significant up-and-comers: Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes. --Tom Keogh It's the craziest mix-up ever! Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell dazzle the screen in this buoyant and screwball comedy of memory-making and memory-faking. One of Hollywood's most dynamic screen pairs, Hawn and Russell make the most of every hilarious situation in this delightful riches-to-rags romance that's perfect entertainment for anyone who appreciates a great practical joke. Hawn is Joanna Stayton, the pampered wife of a pretentious, yacht-owning socialite. When their boat gets stuck for repairs, Joanna employs carpenter Dean Proffitt (Russell) to improve her closet space. But when Dean asks to be paid, he's blatantly turned down by the "nothing is ever good enough for me" Joanna. So when Joanna falls overboard and gets a bad case of amnesia, ! Dean takes advantage of the situation and, in a stroke of retr! ibutive genius, tells her that she's his wife and the mother of hisfour unruly children!Real-life couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn star in this enjoyable 1987 comedy by Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman) about an imperious heiress (Hawn) who loses her memory after a boating accident and is identified as the wife of a handyman (Russell). Russell's character brings her "home" to his messy house and unruly kids, and the laughs follow as the aristocratic Hawn tries fitting in. Marshall delivers the comic goods, the leads are entertaining (Russell needs to do more comedy), and the supporting cast is made up of happily familiar faces, including Roddy McDowall, Edward Herrmann, and Marshall favorite Hector Elizondo in an unbilled bit. --Tom Keogh Goldie Hawn delivers a critically acclaimed performance as Adrienne Saunders, someone whose perfect life as a wife, mother, and career woman disintegrates into a confusing world of betrayal and deception. After her husband (John Heard ! -- HOME ALONE, AWAKENINGS) apparently dies in a mysterious auto accident, Adrienne discovers a series of shocking truths about him -- and chilling evidence of a deadly scheme that threatens her life! From the first startling plot twist to the heart-stopping climax, DECEIVED is a riveting suspense-filled thriller that will entertain you in the spirit of Hitchcock's best!
